Balloon Race Weekend

Sat Oct 18, 2008, 9:19 AM
Challenge to video moving subjects in 46 degree cool morning with new equipment.

Friday liftoff cancelled due to cold front finishing moving East of Natchez.

Saturday morning before finished coffee, heard burners firing over our home. First race began in old kcs lumber yard, four hundred yard North of our yards! Got several decent pics and close up of Natural High experienced by one pilot. Winds picked up and shifted SSE, scanner chatter increased. One pilot landed on one of the small islands in the Mississippi river, south of the bridges.

Two pilots had to land in the game reserve, well south of the intended landing zone, all recovered safely due to efforts of local chase crews finding creative entrance paths with cell phone directions.

Fun and always new hot air balloon adventures are well worth the visit each October!

Reviewing first video clips made with new monopod help to stabilize zoom lens experiments. Will add clips later.

"The Clergy, by getting themselves established by law and ingrafted into the machine of government, have been a very formidable engine against the civil and religious rights of man." Thomas Jefferson.
